REVERSING THE IRREVERSIBLE THROUGH THANKSGIVING
When You Have Tried Everything Else, Give God Quality Thanks
Jehovah Jireh — God Will See To It
By Pastor Sam Onuoha
FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES
John 11:41–44
Lazarus had been dead for four days. Humanly speaking, the situation was over.
But standing before the tomb, Jesus lifted His eyes and said:
Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
Then He cried: LAZARUS, COME FORTH! And the man who was dead came out.
Thanksgiving stood at the doorway of an impossible miracle.
Psalm 77:11 (NIV)
I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
TODAY’S RHEMA
Beloved, I don't know what looks irreversible in your life today.
Maybe you've prayed. You've fasted. You've cried. You've called people. You've tried every natural solution you know. And the situation still looks like a sealed tomb.
But today I want to give you one of the Master's secrets: GIVE GOD THANKS.
Thanksgiving is a little hinge that can open a very big door. It is a small key with tremendous spiritual significance.
Jesus stood before Lazarus' tomb and did something remarkable. He did not begin by magnifying death. He did not discuss how long Lazarus had been buried. He did not focus on the smell of the grave.
HE THANKED THE FATHER.
He said, in effect: Father, You have heard Me before. You are still the same God. Then the irreversible was reversed. The dead man came forth.
THANKSGIVING CHANGES YOUR FOCUS
The enemy wants you staring at the size of your problem. Thanksgiving redirects your attention to the greatness and faithfulness of your God.
Instead of saying, ‘Look how impossible this is!’ begin remembering, ‘Look what God has already done!’
Psalm 77 teaches us to remember God's former miracles. So today, stop for a moment. Think of five things God has already done for you.
Remember that prayer He answered. Remember that door He opened. Remember that danger He brought you through. Remember that provision that came when you didn't know how. Remember that season you thought you would never survive.
And begin thanking Him.
RUB GOD'S FAITHFULNESS IN THE FACE OF YOUR FEAR!
The God who did it before has not changed.
WHAT THANKSGIVING DOES
Thanksgiving helps you move your eyes from the problem to the Provider.
It strengthens faith by reminding you of God's track record. It guards your heart against despair. It prepares you to approach today's battle remembering yesterday's victories.
And sometimes, when everything around you says ‘finished,’ thanksgiving says: MY GOD IS NOT FINISHED!
Your situation may look impossible. But Lazarus was dead. The tomb was sealed. Four days had passed. And yet Jesus gave thanks—and called him forth.
So today, I challenge you: THANK GOD BEFORE YOU SEE THE ANSWER.
Thank Him because He is faithful. Thank Him because He has heard you. Thank Him because He has carried you this far. Thank Him because His power has not diminished. Thank Him because your present circumstance does not change His character.
PRAYER & PROPHETIC DECLARATION
Father, in the mighty Name of Jesus, thank You.
Thank You for every prayer You have answered. Thank You for every battle You have brought us through. Thank You for every provision. Thank You for every healing. Thank You for every open door. Thank You for every unseen danger from which You preserved us.
And now I pray for everyone facing what looks irreversible. May faith rise in their hearts. May despair be broken. May they remember Your faithfulness. And according to Your will, may situations that appeared hopeless experience Your supernatural intervention.
May dead dreams receive fresh life. May closed doors give way to God-ordained opportunities. May discouragement become testimony. May impossible circumstances encounter the power of God. May every person reading this receive fresh strength to believe again.
THIS TOMB WILL NOT HAVE THE FINAL WORD!
Jesus is still Lord. God is still faithful. And the situation that looked irreversible is not beyond His power. In Jesus' mighty Name, AMEN AND AMEN!
TODAY’S FAITH ACTION
Before you ask God for anything else today, take time and thank Him for five specific things He has already done.
No complaining. No begging. Just thanksgiving.
Then face today's challenge remembering yesterday's miracles.
FATHER, I THANK YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE HEARD ME!
